June is one of the easiest months to visit Boston: average highs at Logan Airport are about 76°F, the Swan Boats, harbor ferries and whale watches are all running, and the city's calendar has fixed highlights, including the Boston Pride for the People parade in early June, the Bunker Hill Day parade in Charlestown in mid-June and the city's free Juneteenth celebration at Franklin Park. Add a Red Sox game, a Sunday at SoWa Open Market and a concert on the Seaport waterfront and a long weekend fills itself.
Dates below are the 2026 ones, as a guide; next June's dates are announced in spring.
What is the weather like in Boston in June?
Mild to warm. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for Logan Airport give an average high of 76.2°F and an average low of 60.2°F in June. Evenings by the harbor can be cool, so bring a layer for a boat trip.
June events in Boston
| Event | Where | 2026 date | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boston Pride for the People parade and festival | Copley Square to Boston Common | Saturday, June 6 | Free |
| Battle of Bunker Hill parade | Charlestown | Sunday, June 14, 12:30 p.m. | Free |
| Juneteenth celebration | Franklin Park, Shattuck Picnic Area | Saturday, June 20, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Free |
Boston Pride for the People marches from Copley Square through the South End and Back Bay to Boston Common, with a festival afterwards. The Bunker Hill parade marks the 1775 battle and closes Charlestown streets for the afternoon; pair it with the USS Constitution Museum in the Navy Yard. Juneteenth at Franklin Park is the City of Boston's own free, family-friendly gathering.
Get on the water
- Swan Boats. The pedal-powered boats on the Public Garden lagoon have been family-run since 1877. In 2026 they ran daily from April 18 to September 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until June 20 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 21. Rides last 10 to 15 minutes and cost $4.75 for adults; they do not run in rain, high wind or extreme heat.
- Harbor Islands. Ferries to Georges and Spectacle islands leave Long Wharf from mid-May to mid-October. See the Boston Harbor Islands listing for fares.
- Whale watching. The New England Aquarium whale watch, run with Boston Harbor City Cruises, sails from Long Wharf to Stellwagen Bank from May through November, with aquarium naturalists on board.
Outdoor concerts on the Seaport
Leader Bank Pavilion at 290 Northern Avenue is the city's big outdoor summer venue: a tented stage on the South Boston waterfront that seats about 5,000 and books touring acts from May through September. Check the lineup early, because June shows sell out.
Red Sox at Fenway Park
June is mid-season for the Red Sox, so there are home games most weeks at Fenway Park. If tickets are out of reach, the 60-minute ballpark tour runs daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April to October, and ends three hours before a game on game days. The Celtics are another matter: the NBA regular season ends in April, so a June game at TD Garden only happens if they reach the playoffs' later rounds.
Markets and long walks
SoWa Open Market in the South End runs every Sunday from May to mid-November, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no admission charge. The Freedom Trail is a free 2.5-mile red line from Boston Common to Charlestown; start early on hot days, because much of it is unshaded pavement. In summer the Frog Pond on the Common becomes a spray pool for children.
Plan ahead for June
- Book hotels well ahead of the Pride and Bunker Hill weekends.
- Buy Duck Tour, whale watch and aquarium tickets online; summer weekends sell out.
- Use the T on parade days, when streets close for the afternoon.
